I’ve recently been undergoing some medical problems with my back. I have a herniated disc, which triggers my sciatica (nerve pain that extends down my lower back all the way down my left leg into my toes). Due to my condition, I now have to be more cautious with my outfit choices. I’ve been on a mission to put together sporty chic outfits that integrate comfort and swank style. My search has been rather challenging until I discovered Kit and Ace, which recently opened shop on Woodward in Detroit.
The founders of Kit and Ace are athletes at heart. The retail start-up was launched by Lululemon founder Chip Wilson’s family. They love the ease of their gym clothes but are also fashion mavens. If you know me, you know I’m a fitness and fashion guru. So, I was instantly captivated by the Kit and Ace collection. The brand brings the comfort and performance of active wear into street clothes, so customers such as myself don’t need to sacrifice comfort for style.
As stated on the company’s website, they “created Kit and Ace for those full-contact days – days that start with a hike at dawn and end with a red-eye. We believe what you wear affects your day – it can hold you back or keep you moving. You need performance and functionality for every part of it, not just at the gym.”
I was honored to attend the launch party with some of my faves! Check out some pics from the fun-filled night:
I attended a Fit & Design session at Kit and Ace the week following the launch party. I tried on numerous styles and learned about the clever construction behind the fab clothing.
Innovative design details, such as venting, wicking, stain shield technology, shrink integrity, breathability, performance trims and meticulous Italian tailoring, are infused in each garment. The company uses an exclusive fabric family, Qemir™ (pronounced “come ‘ere”), which brings technical properties to noble fibres – Technical Cashmere™ you can toss in the wash, silk with dynamic stretch and bounce-back ponte that feels as comfortable as your yoga pants. Every piece is wear-tested for 288 hours.
I ended up walking away with this amazing reversible kimono that is 100% silk, yet machine washable.
A silk garment that I don’t need to take to the dry cleaner? Yes, please! I love the versatility of the kimono. It offers endless styling options. You can wear it with a little black dress or sleek jumpsuit, like I have on here. Consider pairing it over a bathing suit and layer up some necklaces…hello, Vegas pool party! You could even team the kimono with a solid crop top and coordinating skirt or shorts. The possibilities with this kimono are limitless, which is exactly what I strive to be.
Which piece piques your interest?
