I know, I know… I’m a tad bit late on this post but things have been super hectic lately, and I wanted to make sure I got this up before the new year! For those of you who don’t know, I had the honor of attending Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York from September 5-12, 2013, when the Spring/Summer 2014 Collections were debuted.
I was on a mission to represent various metro Detroit boutiques and local designers with my wardrobe. It only took two checked-in bags, one large carry-on and a hat carrier to fit everything, but I made it happen!
Every time I would tell people my ensemble was from metro Detroit, they couldn’t believe you could find such unique fashions in the Motor City. I’m glad I could help expose some of Michigan’s hidden gems because Detroit truly deserves to be on the fashion map. Here’s a look at the outfits I wore during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week:
Day 2: Vintage 1970s flocked skirt from Chi-Chi and The Greek; vintage harness and earrings made by local designer Barbara Borin, both from Paris Antiques.
I’m pleased to note that this look was published in the Huffington Post Street Style Segment. Check out the captured image:
Day 3: Vintage couture jumpsuit from Mariposa’s Clothing and Accessories; Nino Bertera cuffs.
Day 4: Vintage 1960s hat and dress from Chi-Chi and The Greek; vintage sunglasses from Paris Antiques; wristlet from ALDO, metro Detroit locations.
Day 5: Lyudviga Couture From Russia With Style dress; Book Clutch from Kate Spade in the Somerset Collection (a gift from my amazing fiancé); headband put together by yours truly!
